This creation’s decanter embodies the artisanal heritage of Guerrero in Southern Mexico, while the crystalline liquid evokes the state’s mystical expanses. 

Staying true to their centuries-old traditions, Código 1530 partnered with a small village of artisanal families who have been quietly making the finest mezcals in the world. Sweet, earthy nose with hints of honey, tobacco, salinity from clay, vanilla, cantaloupe, bright minerality and hazelnut.

Maestra mezcalera Margarita Blas and her son used only older examples of the tall Agave karwinskii subspecies known as Cirial to make this unique batch. While most karwinskii reach maturity somewhere between 12 and 18 years, the agave employed here range from 18 to 22. Offers yet another mildly smoky way to gently enter the world of mezcal. Notes of roasted agave are softened by hints of citrus, white peach, and candied pine. The mezcal also contains a distinct minerality, thanks to the volcanic rock in the Puebla soil. This is a balanced and rightfully beloved mezcal, bright on the nose with citrus, white pepper, and a soothing note of freshly baked bread. Gently grainy on the palate, those bready notes quickly give way to more citrus, a gentle layer of baking spice, and an enveloping, sesame-sweet finish, with only the slightest hint of smoke along the way.
