The 2023 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is the rst vintage without new oak. Instead, two one-year-old barrels comprise this cuvée since Damien Colin felt that 50% new oak would have been excessive. It has a very rened and controlled bouquet that opens beautifully in the glass but never explodes. The palate is very well balanced with hints of dried honey, orange pith and white pepper on the entry. It's not quite as persistent as the previous vintage, but it should still give pleasure over many years.
