The 2020 Bianco captivates with an enticing mix of lemon oils, wild herbs, orange blossom, young peaches and crushed stone. It traverses both savory and sweet, as silky textures usher in tropical citrus and melon contrasted by saline-tinged acidy and pretty inner florals. This is persistent and lightly structured, leaving a twang of candied lime and a saturation of minerals to linger incredibly long. This Carricante from the southern slopes of Etna shows much more pronounced fruit than you'd typically find from the variety, which is likely the combination of the slightly warmer terroir, yet also the extended 2020 growing season. In the end, although the Idda Bianc may differ from the expressions found from the northern or eastern slopes of the volcano, it's a solid effort that's worth seeking out.
